Purpose: The purpose of this course is to examine stress and its relationship to one's health. The course will focus on identifying the various stressors individuals encounter, along with effective coping strategies.

Rationale: This course is designed to help the health educator and other health profession in understanding not only the physical, psychological, and sociological dimensions of stress, but also to help them identify strategies in planning, teaching, or designing stress relaxation programs. Because of the unique structure of this course, it is imperative that you attend class. You will not only be provided the necessary cognitive information, but the class will also allow you to experience various aspects of controlling stress--something that no readings can provide.
